No, E, I would not. Although I would not object to those references in a nation with a corresponding culture and/or historical foundation.

"God" happened to be the common term used by the people who founded THIS country. It is a very generic reference. It promotes no specific religion and precludes no one from attaching their own meaning to "God". Seems like something the "think-outside-the-box" crowd could deal with to me.

As for your "what the heck does that mean" remark - I believe excess is usually followed by excess.
