For the record, I am just as offended by McCarthyism as anyone. Some innocent people were hurt badly, for no reason that they had anything to do with. I stand on my opinion that the potentiality represented by Stalin's cohorts was serious and deserved serious measures. McCarthy's measures were wrong. That he did not prevail and lives in infamy testifies to the power of our constitution and nation.
