No, stores selling the flags aren't dissing it. People gotta have their flags, and the only alternatives are to either have the gov give 'em out, which some would call socialism, or make yer own. (Heard a really touching story just now from McCain; a cellmate sewed red and white stripes on the inside of his blue shirt and the POWs all said the pledge every night, until busted; the guy with the shirt was beaten).

I'm certainly no purist, or else I would be kosher.I've got no objections to carrying the flag into the Olympics or Super Bowl horizontally. Ditto sewing it on your jacket, altho that is not technically part of a uniform. In fact, as hard as it was for this aging hippie, I almost sewed the colors on mice elf, but I am really lazy and don't like sewing, and spaced it out.

But...I have already seen two flag ties this AM. Malls and car dealers vie to see who has the biggest flag lit up the most hours so folks can find them, unable to spot the dealer next door whose flag is 3 square inches smaller and not flown on XMAS. I've seen the colors on scrubs in the hospital. Is it ok to literally get blood and guts on it, (except in battle)?
