I thought that due to the severity of the situation, the ceiling would have been raised by now.

Even if they raise it today, they will then have to schedule an auction to get the money in to pay the debt that becomes due tomorrow.

They are cutting it pretty close. Would the dems really bring on a default to prove their point about the Bush tax cuts? Whether Bush was right to cut tax or not, he has a great excuse in the WAT for unexpected expenses. I think the Dems will lose face if they cause major financial turmoil by not getting the ceiling raised.
