I agree to a degree but we are linked pretty hard to the stock markets whether we like it or not.

He could have tightened rates or dried up the money supply but that would have tanked the economy and unemployment would have skyrocketed!

The ones I would really like to blame are the House and Senate who pass crazy bills like the "Farm" giveaway.

I am totally fed up with tax policy in this country. Politicians have milked this baby to the "Nth" degree at all of our expense. Everyone wants someone else to pay the bill.

AG is not perfect but I sure don't see anyone who could have done a better job. Unfortunately he has to deal with what Congress passes.

I'm off my soap box now!

regards,

Eric

What do you think of that Paul O'Neill guy, mindmeld. They are talking about him as the next Fed chief. AG has to retire at some point.

mind and eric,

I don't think that AG had any choice since 96 because the game had gotten well out of his hand. I don't think that anyone could have cleaned the mess much better any way. And I don't believe the next Fed chairman will be less interventionist. He will be forced to keep playing the game and get the ball rolling. Actually I am expecting that we will get a less and less free market.

Anyway, I have been convinced that the dollar is at the early stage of a long bear market that will might years. How it will affect our economy down the road is anyone's guess. I cannot see a nation burdened with such heavy debt from top to bottom can see healthy growth in economy consistently down the road. And also probably we are only in the 3rd or 4th inning of the accounting scandal game. How will that affect foreign investors still remain to be seen, although I don't see that it have a crashing effect our US investors because a majority of us are brainwashed by Abby anyway.

Have a nice and safe July 4th vocation.

larry!
