I suspect that most everyone would go broke trading, especially the bulls. This can best be seen on the chart of the Nikkei. Though shorting is not exactly illegal, the fees to do so make it unattractive. So, when shorting is eliminated, you see a little bit of an exuberant run and then it fall apart. And the drop is precipitous because there are no shorts to cover and provide support.
