PVZ,

Yes, I guess it slipped my mind that she had some experience as a broker in the 60's, but my view of brokers is so low that it is entirely possible that she had forgotten every single element of the Series 7 or whatever it was called then.

I absolutely don't think that her sins up to the order to sell were anything but harmless foul and definitely something that any person in a similar situation without the benefit of experience with the securities laws, from a lawyer's point of view, could have committed. It's interesting but, under the securities laws if Martha had been walking by Sam Waksal's table at the Quilted Giraffe on the way to the loo and overheard him telling his brother, "Imclone should be renamed Implode, cause that's what the FDA is gonna do to it," she could have used the phone outside the loo to call her broker to sell without any liability at all. Overhearing insider information does not make someone a tippee and therefore there's no requirement not to act on it.

I knew Ray would come up with some sort of conspiracy behind the Martha thing but I doubt it. I think you have a phalanx of liberal media who have been waiting for the next Leona Helmsley (queen of mean) to surface for appropriate guillotining.

I could easily name you (but won't) 10 or 20 CEOs who are without a doubt bigger jerks, a@@holes, connivers, scum than Martha could ever be and they get a free pass. It's that innate resentment of Martha making a great living off of 19th and 20th century domesticity that just fries a lot of (liberal, female) folks' potatoes.

I tried to buy some MSO and missed today, I may try again tomorrow.
