I used to downplay the importance of bureacrats and politicians for example... but with the US rapidly tilting away from business and toward government, I've been pretty impressed with certain politicians grasp of the situation. The elderly fellow in the Senate who called Jeffery Skilling a "Carnival Barker" comes to mind as a pretty sharp dude who, while bureacratic 'looking', certainly "got it" right away.
