When the "little lady" was telling me about the dearth of contractors out your way, I was amazed. There are all sorts of folks here to do handyman work. People advertising in community newspapers and putting flyers at your door. I've always picked an electrician or a plumber or whatever out of the yellow pages and they were always available to do the work, although not necessarily at the drop of the hat. If you buy, say, cabinets, the place that sells them will arrange for the work to be done. It never occurred to me that it wasn't that way everywhere. I've known people who have done what you're doing, but they did it for fun or to save money. A woman I used to carpool with did her whole house, but she really grooved on the activity and the accomplishment. Did a beautiful job, too. There was a time when I might have tackled something like that just to demonstrate that I could. Now, I either do without or write a check.
