That is ignorance. If you think about what you want, and what the best way is to get it, violence is not the way. If you love your spouse you don't hit them in order to make them do what you want. If you love your children you put them on a behavior plan if they are out of control. Even children with severe behavior problems can be put on behavior plans, and helped, but it takes will and intelligence to do it. Which probably means that out of control and ineffective spanking will continue absent governmental interference.
