Although I tend to agree that she may no longer be a threat to society, the reason that she only did something horrid once could be because she is in there for life. We will never know, will we?

It would have been fleshed out a little by now had anyone offered any flesh. We're supposed to flesh out your strawman???? How do we do that when we don't know what your fleshed-out strawman looks like? In the current model, she's in for life because she did something really, really horrid once. That's quite sufficient for me, thank you. You forget the deterrence this can provide: Anyone thinking of repeating anything like her actions has her fate as a bad example.
