Children still do all of those things and they probably always will, although fewer may be running around calling people "fags" because they have an uncle who is gay and they know it.

As for the Pledge, I grew up in one of the most infamously conservative counties in the nation, and there were children who would not say the Pledge of Allegiance. I can't remember anyone making an issue of it (unless someone was disruptive).

Those were the good old days....
LOL!! And totally politically incorrect! Our enemy soldiers were German. We fought the Indian redskins too, though. And played cops and robbers, and it never occurred to us they were sometimes the same people. And fags were bad and to be ridiculed or avoided. And hoboes (AKA "homeless" in current PC) were bad guys. And the Republic survived all of that.

I knew a number of Jehovah's Witnesses in school. They did not recite the pledge. Nothing was made of it.
