Based on what I recently read, I prefer the original version of the Declaration of Independence.

Original version:

"All men are created equal and independent. From that equal creation, they derive rights inherent and inalienable."

Final draft:

"All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights."
