I will discuss the market but I will not aid in further ruining this once fine thread that you seem to have single handedly destroyed. This used to be my first stop when I came home from work and I for one will miss John's fine market observations.

FWIW - A state of readiness and being able to load up missiles and guns to counter a threat that no one ever imagined are two different things. Until Sept 11, we were looking over the horizon for threats expecting foreign heavy bombers with advance notice from our warning centers in Europe and the Northern polar caps etc. which gave us ample warning to spin up and launch.

We launched what we had from Langley VA and that was all we had ready and armed at the time.

We did not make it a habit of flying around with live ammunition in populated areas as a matter of habit except for special training or special missions prior to this.

If you really think loading and launching a bunch of jets to intercept a first time type event and totally unexpected threat is easy, feel free to sign your name on the dotted line and come to work for us. I love training fresh meat. Even if they were loaded, you don't just jump in the seat, turn the keys and take off in one of these things unless it is prepped for alert and that was a cold war thing that we stopped when the wall came down until post Sept 11! Geeesh!!

Do you really believe we would offer up as a sacrifice, that many people, a landmark like that and endanger our economy over something dumb like wanting to get involved in a foreign matter? Even if someone in power was that sick, do you really think we would have killed some of our best minds and hurt our financial district? This coming from the same person that thinks bribes run everything in politics. Get help!

I am going out to watch fireworks on this day of freedom so many fought and died for so that others can speak rubbish at will.

Good Luck,

Lee
