>>Well call me and my neighbors old fashioned. Our electric co-op bought a coal field and are building a coal fired plant on the site. It will burn 50% cleaner than even proposed 2020 standards call for. The coal is laying right on top of the ground and is no harder to mine than moving dirt.<

I don't think that you and your neighbors are old fashioned. Sounds like you're building a completely modern plant. I just have a problem with an energy policy that concentrates more on fossil energy than on renewable energy.

There's no question that technologies for generating power from coal have come a long way. Unfortunately, in most places the coal is not just lying right on top of the ground. Extracting coal from the ground is generally either hazardous, damaging to the environment, or both.

Is there some reason you think we should not work toward developing energy solutions that are cleaner than coal will ever be?
