If you want a prayer, say a prayer privately. The Pledge is not and never was intended to be a prayer...it is simply a pledge of allegiance to the country and it has been trivialized by turning it into a prayer. And how did the Pledge get so connected to the Declaration of Independence which the "under God" proponents keep citing. Where does it say that a Creator is your god?

fyi, only half the states require reciting of the Pledge....why don't devote your energy to getting every state involved instead of messing with the original document. I thought conservatives were the ones who don't want to change things...?

" Without that foundation, I believe our rights are vulnerable to any strongman who holds more secular power than anyone else."

Interpret the above statement for me please....are you saying that only your god can protect your government or country?

Tenchu, Creator?? is that from Star Trek? Where did that come from.
Our morality comes from our basic desire to do unto others as they wish to be done unto. Not from our desire to do unto others as you would have them do unto you...that is a lot different.

A coercive morality does unto others as they do unto you, so if they are shooting, you shoot back, yet neither wants to be shot at, both want to be left alone. Religions are coercive moralities as they do not wish to allow anyone the freedom to be treated as they choose to be traeted.

In effect all religion are control based organizations who exist to get money and property for their leaders. These same leaders do not believe in the principals of the religion, nor do they practice them. One only has to look at the abuses in the catholic school systems to see the very worst of a religious order and why it should be broken up. I have heard of very few as bad as the catholics in that regard, howeveer there have been many anglican scandals involving young boys. Jewish schools seem to be a lot better in this regard, how about moslem schools?
Look at scientology, for example. A fake religion set up by Hubbard as a self perpetuating scam it is a joke on all religions as it exposses them for what they are...scams. many years ago the scams differed, but they carry one and grab money from people and try to control their lives.

get rid of the god myth.
