I don't know if this was covered already, but the 58 dead Hindus in Godhra were also coming back from a meeting where, I believe, they were talking about building a new temple to the God Rama in Ayodhya. Unfortunately they are building this temple on the site of a former mosque, destroyed by Hindus in 1992 (if I recall correctly)- and I believe there were 2000 casualties (both Hindus and Muslims) that resulted as a consequence of the destruction of that Mosque. Neither Hindu nor Muslim religion is intrinsically bad- but horrendous crimes have been carried out in the names of both religions in India. I would hate to have the job of weighing out all the corpses that have been created out of the internecine fighting in India in order to find out who was the most to blame. Most fanatics can be deadly. I'm not sure the religion matters all that much. You know?

Lorne, you said: islam is much more than a religion, it is also a form of government. I agree. But that aspect has lost its relevance today. I can see why Mohammed said so when he was living in the arid lands with bedouins. That does not apply today. We have nations, we have laws in those nations etc. Remember Osama is also trying to imitate Mohammed's lifestyle (just the bedouin piece) ...all the crimes committed in the name of islam. It is the messenger who should pay and not the message which should be labelled as flawed. You have said you are a Hindu, You must really love the muslims to turn on your own people but that is allowed if that is what you believe. Indian history is replete with instance of invaders who have pilloried and plundered India. The invaders were Muslims as well as Christians. India was the crown jewel of the British empire. So what if it is also a crown jewel of a Muslim emperor also. And by the way Hindu is not a religion. It is a way of life and tolerance is one of its basic tenets.
