This is interesting enough and substantive enough for me to send it to friends who seem to think about fat a lot. ("Just adopt" wasn't part of the article.):

It's been a big mistake for everyone to believe that there was scientific evidence demonstrating that a low fat diet was healthy and would prevent obesity.

The article states convincingly that no such evidence exists, only extremely dubious extrapolation; and it shows that, statistically, as the American diet has lowered its percentage of fat, the American individual has raised his or hers.

It also made the point that carbohydrates create insulin surges that cause inordinate hunger, whereas fats and proteins don't.
