Merck is approaching historically undervalued levels here. If it hits 40, then it will have a dividend yield of 3.5% and should be an attractive buy there.

Yet I am so SCARED to buy anything these days. Looks like we can't trust any number anywhere. I expected Merck to be particularly squeaky clean and it has come as a major disappointment. I would rather that these levels had come as a result of a general market sell-off instead of due to problems with Merck's accounting.

I am terribly disappointed. Not to mention disgusted.
