Oh, for the good old days of the 80's, when we had business leaders like Michael Miliken (sp?) to interpret the then-President's ethical tone for us!

There are always scandals. There are always out-and-out crooks.

Be wary of rigidity of opinions: in my experience, the truth is seldom at the hard right or hard left edge.

Best regards

Gemini,

I have to take issue with you on this.

I am sick of seeing Clinton blamed for everything that
is wrong in the world. His administration gave us a surplus, instead of piling up trillions in deficit spending during the Reagan and Bush I years. He tried to help the middle class - not line the pockets of his rich friends.

Want a scandal - how about Bush the Elder telling the Kurds to rise up and that we would help them after the Gulf War?
Thousands were slaughtered when we failed to follow-through.
Let's see - is this BIG LIE, more important than say a President's private life?

Remember Silverado, and how one of the Bush boys cost the American taxpayers over a billion dollars? Show me this scale of scandal in the Clinton administration - you can't.

I'd be careful with the personal moral values of the Repubs also - we don't want those stories of the Bush coke binges and alcohol usage to come back (dancing naked on the bars..) do we..and then there's Laura Bush's unfortunate accident that killed someone in a car accident.

And now Cheney's old company - Haliburton, is being investigated by the SEC. Let's see, we should have hearings, and force him to disclose his secret oil dealings, nevermind the fact that Bush used the Enron jet more than any other on the campaign trail.

You want impeachable offenses? I think you're going to stir
up a lot of people, who can find REAL issues to investigate
in this and previous Repub. administrations.

Matt

Are you naive enough to believe that the corporate scandals just happened? Most of these scandals were perpetrated during the 90's, but are just now being discovered. Here is an excerpt from another article that nails it:
The sad fact is the president of the United States set an “anything goes” ethical tone in the 1990s that said if you were making money, you were, by definition, succeeding. Tragically, some greedy, overly ambitious, unscrupulous, and slick corporate CEOs followed Clinton’s lead and deliberately and brazenly committed fraud. In essense, they and their auditors looked into the camera and wagged their finger at us, and lied. And, just as Bill Clinton should have been impeached, these people should go to jail.

I agree. Send em all to jail. Let's start with those involved in HAL and Harken shenanigans.
