To put it another way, until we walk in their shoes, it is easy to criticize.

This may be true....but I (and I presume you) have never lived under an occupying force either, and I (and you) have taken numerous opportunities to criticize the actions of the Palestinians.

The problem with this type of stuff is where it can lead. We know that some Palestinians are trying to kill Israeli's. OTOH....we may have some anecdotal evidence that Arab Israeli's are also helping. The level of threat seems to have been lowered.

How would the US react if this type of action occured in Ireland. They have lived under the threat of bombing for years. You can no longer own land in Ireland if you are Catholic?

In the end, this is just an amazingly dumb move. It riles Arab Israelis, validates Arab views that the ultimate goal of Israel is a Jewish state in what is now Palestinian land and probably would end up costing some US support.

BTW....I agree that if we lived under the same types of conditions that we would probably see ethnic cleansing in this country. I was amazed at how mild the overall reaction was in this country to 9-11 (in terms of harassment of Arabs). This is one area where Bush (and a variety of other politicians) deserve a ton of credit.
