NITT, If Intel is alone in the CPU market they will jump prices instantly to nearly twice as much (IMO)
That reflects what they have lost in the war with AMD over the past few years. So the market contracts, they will still make more money.

In a way they had to try to Kill AMD because AMD was doing very well and making better parts than Intel. that was a terrifying prospect, so a scorched earth campaign started, as well as their ill starred slot one failures. They also tried to make the mobo makers stop making AMD mobos. So the mobo makers said screw you intel and made white box mobos. They know that one day the move to verticality will see Intel going fully into mobos and boxes.
Since there are only three engine makers(Via..Intel..AMD, and Via is the weakest in terms of capability) a vertical market can only come about with 1 of those 3 involved in it.
Via is already doing this and only the fact that their parts are inferior keeps them from taking a lot of share...(that could change).
So will AMD go vertical? or stop with mobos?
