What's he got to hide, if he did nothing wrong? But, perhaps he doesn't want any examination of his actions... although the SEC never did formally charge him (big surprise: being investigated by his own lawyer :) they did formally tell him that just because he wasn't charged doesn't mean that he should consider himself 'exonerated'. As to your post: "A group of insiders, using money borrowed from Harken itself, paid an exorbitant price for a Harken subsidiary, Aloha Petroleum. That created a $10 million phantom profit, which hid three-quarters of the company's losses in 1989. White House aides have played down the significance of this maneuver, saying $10 million isn't much, compared with recent scandals....But for Harken's stock price — and hence for Mr. Bush's personal wealth — this accounting trickery made all the difference." >>> Yeah, I guess the fraud wasn't really in Enron's or Worldcom's league... but perhaps that's only because Harkin wasn't AS BIG as those corporate 'lions'. >>> Still, $10 million fraud is $10 million dollar fraud. "Unlike the claims that Bush engaged in insider trading, which are convincingly refuted by the available evidence..." >>> LOL! 'Convincingly' my ass! Bush was on the board, and on the audit committee of the board - charged directly with approving the accounting treatment. >>> Don't you think that it's a little funny that the SEC 'investigators' NEVER INTERVIEWED A SINGLE HARKEN BOARD MEMBER? >>> Sounds real thorough to me... maybe they interviewed the janitor before giving the Vice President's son his pass....
