It does look very manipulative. Did Dell's 10-K or 10-Qs say anything about their short put positions? Where would such information be normally disclosed?

I don't follow Dell's financials too closely to know if they have (or where they have) disclosed their short position. IIRC Fortune had an article about this (put issue) a few months (a year?) back.

[Edit] From "Zeev's Turnips thread", someone read the 10K and found that they have a 800 million liability. Don't know when they expire though.

I still find it very strange that a company would preannounce a 1% revenue expectation change.
