i am no techie, i just say give me the best you got(in house).
So my local Radio Shack dragged out a Compaq Presario something something.
i bought this 2 years ago, and the label reads AMD Athlon,200mhz system bus, 128kb integrated lt.plus 512kb, L2 Cache for improved window performance, CD-RW, DVD, 56modem/Digital DSL.,10MpsEthernet port(like i will really need that, whatever it is--and wow i have 2 IEEE 1394 ports(i have zero idea what that is, it could be two hamburgers for all i know:), 6 expansion slots and 7 drive bays, 3D now, and 650mb back drive using CD-R(i guess i should use that?), and 10gigahertz hard drive storage.--i really don't know what any of this means, really.

But all i know, with just a 56modem it is 5 times faster and smoother than my 1997 computer(once i learned to clear out the start-ups, there were 32 items in start up, i cut it to 7). I gather i can now buy twice for significantly less, meaning all buying in the past 2 years will never need a new computer, imo. Max
