Please be serious for a moment >> Mars, No, I am not kidding. 2 Tim 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (NKJ) << We know that the Jews were some of the most irrascible and malcontented rude and warlike people/barbarians of the region >> Your hatred for the Jewish race seems to be the overriding issue here. As I have already posted, they were not a sinless race by any means. God chose them as His instrument to communicate the Gospel to the world and to bring forth the Savior Jesus Christ. The Old Testament documents repeated sin on the part of the nation Israel and the resulting punishment they endured. They were taken away into captivity because of their sin. The verses you quoted in Isaiah are but one example of God's honesty regarding their sin. Yet note the promise: Isa 1:18-20 "Come now, and let us reason together," says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. (NKJ) If the Jews were falsely claiming to be God's Chosen People and wrote the Bible to support the claim, do you think that they would have documented their repeated sins so thoroughly? The Old Testament hardly makes the Jewish nation look "lily white". Even their most respected leaders were shown to be sinful men. << The ploy of a tribe to use a diety & protector to rationalize and justify a claim to the land ... >> The survival of Israel is itself a miracle of God and evidence of His faithfulness to His Word. Many people have tried to obliterate the Jews, and yet they continue to survive and thrive. God returned them to their land in 1948 and gave them back Jerusalem in 1967. A hundred years ago, you could have argued that the Jews were not in the land so their claim was fraudulent, but after what has happened in recent years, it should be clear that God's hand is on these people, even though, for the most part, they continue to reject Him. You dismiss the Bible as fanciful, yet the fulfilled prophecy is infallible evidence of its supernatural origin. Ps 40:7-8 Then I said, "Behold, I come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me. I delight to do Your will, O my God, and Your law is within my heart." (NKJ) The entire Old Testament was written about Jesus Christ hundreds of years before the virgin birth. Matt 5:17 "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. (NKJ) Luke 4:16-21 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, "Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." (NKJ) << you'll pardon my Roman , Greek and Occidental skepticism ... >> Absolutely! Acts 17:11 tells us that skepticism is good. The Bible does not ask for blind faith, but for intelligent, reasoned faith as in Isaiah 1:18 which you quoted. The Bible makes very definite claims about itself. It claims to be the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of the Living God. Though many reject this claim (as you have pointed out), many intelligent people have studied the evidence and found it to be incontrovertible. Once again, I recommend "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel for any honest seeker wanting to know if these claims are valid. Best regards - Ken
