Both trading and the underlying businesses that are traded are imo competitive endeavors first and foremost and so the changes you describe are equal for all competing participants. That's why this whole productivity myth is like doubly mythical, since even if everyone were that much more productive so would be their rivals and the same attrition, margin squeezing, irresponsible financial planning, etc you are seeing live before you now is a part of it now like it was then, because they are things you do out of greed and fear and to take money and customers from your rivals. So why would TA change?
