Good morning investors and punters:

Here's the VIX, up over 40 again today. I am cautiously entering the JimP camp here:

stockcharts.com[w,a]dbllyiay[pf][vc60][iut][J4230851,Y]&pref=G

There is nothing but gloom and doom on the airwaves, talk now that this bear may not be a normal bear but rather a secular bear. Dow is now below 8500, curbs are in, Naz is falling (although some of its stocks are holding or even rising).

I want a magazine cover, bring me a "Death of Equities" Biz Week cover.

For those who like pictures, here's another. Even without going into the details of what this put:call/VIX chart means, you can certainly see September's pattern beginning to re-form:

We're still missing some of the elements of full-scale capitulation, but all I'm looking for is an exhaustion of the sellers here.

Any views?

I'm having issues myself this am. Cannot log into Schwab or SS Pro. Ameritrade no problem. Schwab is the home of Joe average investor, no doubt they are clogging the servers with their sell orders after reading the papers this weekend.

Glad that the SI pundits are saying that Wednesday will be the day to buy.

Techs holding up pretty well despite the near 200 point carnage. Some of the favorites up this am - KLAC, QLGC. Well, some of my favorites, anyway.

Dabum, [edited add] OT *** cable and CNBC

My cable ISP is ok this morning but cable CNBC is off the air here in Sunnyvale, CA. Maybe CNBC is speechless. Aren't we all glad we didn't buy those bargain priced utilities last week? finance.yahoo.com

This must be devatating to those thinking utes were safe investments.

[added] is there a name for the candle sandwich that started 4 days ago? Black - white - black and today again black. stockcharts.com[l,a]daclnimy[p][vc60][iUe12,26,9!Lc20]&pref=G
