Greg, Re: "RIF??"

I have no idea what that means, but I noticed the quote, too. Sounds like layoffs, IMO. Did Intel miss estimates? Was there an operating loss? I don't expect that he'll be the bringer of "good news" at such an address.

re: In addition, firm hears that CEO Craig Barrett plans to address INTC employees immediately following the analyst conference call on Tuesday, although the reason for the meeting is unknown.
RIF??
Edit: RIF = Reduction In Force
Greg

I don't think so. Craig has ben addressing intel employees every quarter since the Semiconductor Industry began it's slide. In those talks, Craig outlines how intel's plans went last quarter, and what's being planned for next. Also, usually during the end of Q2 "talk", Craig announces what the H1 Bonus will be.

Besides, I think intel will reinstitute it's Voluntary Separation Program, before they decide to go with any layoffs.
