Is there a chance that the NVidia chipset news today is actually bad? I thought we heard quite recently that NVidia would not be improving any Socket A chipsets but would concentrate on Hammer. But if Hammer is delayed...

Did they change their mind or did I remember wrong?

Pravin:

"In addition, firm hears that CEO Craig Barrett plans to address INTC employees immediately following the analyst conference call on Tuesday, although the reason for the meeting is unknown.

My guess is 10,000 layoffs."

No raises given those much ballyhooed world class yields???

Pravin,

My guess is 10,000 layoffs.

It could only be no raises, hiring freeze, but it could mean closing some older facilities.

besides what it really turns out to be, almost as important is how Wall Street will digest it. It can be positive (cost cutting, increased profitability later) to negative (no recovery on the horizon). But one thing, no matter what it turns out to be, it will be hard to find anything positive in it for AMD.

Current and former employees are speculating the company might lay off an additional 10,000 workers.

Might be a good call .... or WSJ is reading you...and thinking you're an ex-Intelebee :-)

Gottfried

PS: An other possibility is that yield is so good, they don't need as much FAB.
