Crikey Jay, that's a long post. I shall have to begin reading at the beginning again; tomorrow, it's 2.15 am right now [here]. But I was reminded at the end that you have bought Verizon and their phragmented photons, by QUALCOMM. Welcome to the CDMA world. Make yourself comfy. I think you'll find it much more interesting, useful and fun than the Aztec sacrifices and priestly incantations.

Zzzzz,

Mq

>>Asian values<<

By Asian, do you mean Chinese Asian, S. Korean Asian or Japanese Asian? My personal favorite are Japanese Asian values which include rampant xenophobia, systematic corruption and nepotism, a cultural inability to embrace change and a penchant for raping and mutilating the citizens of other "Asian" countries, particularly China (OK, so this is ancient history, people change - I know).

Now, let's talk about American values. America welcomes immigrants, embraces change (with the exception of Raymond and the AFL-CIO), promotes meritocracy, and generally works its collective ass off. This has produced the highest living standard in the world but also leads to excess - excess in calorie consumption, in fuel (dis)economy and in CEO compensation. But hey, gotta take the rough with the smooth. America also has a written Constitution and a Bill of Rights, the first Amendment to which includes Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Assembly and Freedom of the Press. These rights generally mean that those who indulge in an excess of excess (Kenny boy, Dennis Kozlowski, Bernie Ebbers et al.) generally get brought to heel. OK, so you stick up the corner 7-11 for fifty bucks you do more time than when you take Worldcom for $400 million, but you know what, that's life in the chimpoid fast lane. And last but not least, American values include saving France from the Prussian/Nazi military machine (twice), the Netherlands and the British from the Nazis (once each), Italy from the Italians (twice), the Chinese, the Koreans and the Philippinos from the Japanese (once), the South Koreans from the wonderful Asian values of the Il Sung family, the world from Nikita Kruschev, the Vietnamese from, well, that one didn't work out so good, Panama from Manuel Noriega, Grenada from, uh, somebody, and the Serbo-Croat folks from each other.

And the Big Mac is served in 122 countries around the world.
