I don't count violence against Israeli soldiers who are occupying the West Bank, as you shouldn't. That is 100% legal and morally justified. In fact, it should be rewarded. Incidentally, what was the context for the attack on the Israeli soldier? Without that, this piece of information you have provided is worse than useless, it is misleading. Remember that Palestinians are killed routinely during periods that are described as "peaceful". For example, every "lull" in the current intifada has been a time when Palestinian terrorist attacks on Jewish civilians have stopped, but there were still Palestinians being killed by Israelis.

[The Intifada] did not break out in order to improve our bargaining ability in the negotiations, nor as a reaction to Sharon's provocative visit to Al-Haram Al-Sharif: this was only the spark. It was accumulated in the depths of our people and was bound to explode in the face of Barak's government because of the political problem that was put off for more than a year and a half -- the problem of independence.

Exactly. Sharon's visit was only the spark after decades of oppression.

Tom

<<< In the first three weeks after the second Intifada had begun, 100 Palestinians had been killed, 30 of them children, and Amnesty International issued a report citing, "excessive use of lethal force in circumstances in which neither the lives of the security forces nor others were in imminent danger..." In other words: intentional murder of civilians. >>>
