No doubt the US is the sole defender of freedom and democracy left in the world. Sad to say, even the Brits have abdicated any meaningful role.

Really!!! You really think that the US went into Afghanistan to free the Afghans from Taliban? If so, then what would you think the US motive would be to go into Afghnaistan if they did so before the WTC attack on 9/11? What would you call that then?

Ask an Afghani today and see what they say. All the freedoms you mentioned are also available to the democracy folks in the US also. But they have the added assurance that they will not be suddenly bombed from above by their own friends.

Look pal, in a democracy only the people are supreme, no king, no military etc. With Rumsfeld suggestion that they bypass Congress indicates facist tendencies. So I think we need to defend democracy in our country first and cut out that suggestion in the Congress totally. Such a proposal are the first steps towards military dictatorship. And worst still your line of thinking which says look if it were not for the military you would not be where you are today. Taliban were dictators and facists. We do not want to replace it with another one. We want true democracy in the US as well as Afghanistan. Let us defeat the military axis for if we don't then that will soon be considered the axis of evil for democracy.

Women are no longer beaten for teaching their daughters mathematics

The very Afghan women for whom you shed crocodile tears have condemned the American assault on Afghanistan.
