Remember 1998?

Record Bankruptcies totaled 1,442,549 in 98' and the market ramped higher until the blowoff in Jan 2000 for the DOW and Mar/April 2000 for nasdaq.

and what was the total bankruptcies for all of 2001?

1,492,129.. only 50K more...

2002 may break 2001, but BK filings will shrink dramatically in the second half of this year(big dropoff in filings in 4th quarter) and all of 2003 imho..

just like BK filings dropped dramatically in 1999 and 2000.
