It's quite obvious they believed in the Creator and as CH might say the "document speaks for itself".

These people were sick of being the puppets of kings and popes not the Creator.

It just takes a little common sense and a knowledge of history.

"Beneath, Between and Behind"

Beneath, Between And Behind
-------- ------- --- ------
Ten score years ago, defeat the kingly foe
A wondrous dream came into being
Tame the trackless waste, no virgin land left chaste
All shining eyes, but never seeing

Beneath the noble birth
Between the proudest words
Behind the beauty, cracks appear
Once, with heads held high
They sang out to the sky
Why do their shadows bow in fear?

Watch the cities rise
Another ship arrives
Earth's melting pot and ever growing
Fantastic dreams come true
Inventing something new
The greatest minds, and never knowing...

The guns replace the plow, facades are tarnished now
The principles have been betrayed
The dreams's gone stale, but still, let hope prevail
History's debt won't be repaid

A.J., what you are up against is that the founding documents are treated here the way some people treat the Bible -- you make up your mind what you believe first, then you can find something in the documents to support your position.

Just as even the devil can quote scripture, even the atheist or agnostic can quote something from somewhere to justify their need to try to delude themselves into believing that our country was somehow not founded as a Christian nation.

I'm sure you have better things to do that worry about their delusions.
