How about this for a x86 strategy: Beige boxes, AMD processor with direct sales over the internet. You don't have to worry about offending the channel and you create the opportunity to win customers for the "Real" Mac experience. Don't make them clunky, make sure the customer is satisfied but make the upgrade path clear. There has to be a way to bring new customers into the fold.

correct me if i'm wrong, but they didn't drop the price on the imacs at all.... did they?

Macmall reports a $100 dollar price drop on the high-end 15" flat iMac. When I checked they had very few of them in stock which leads me to believe Apple is dropping this model, but this is pure speculation (what else do we do here?)

>>>> the good thing is the stock price will not be able to drop much further than this $14 to 15 area <<<<

Jonkai, let's take you point a step further. If Apple's cash is about $12.50 per share, and I have heard various renditions in this area, then plant and equipment are probably another $2 or so, not to mention the value of the brand.

I think a strong argument can and should be made by Apple stockholders that the company should take some of that cash and repurchase 15 or 20 million shares. One cannot make a great argument at the moment that cash is needed for speculative purchases of other companies. Sure, some small enterprises may be valuable to Apple, but this is a golden opportunity for Apple to provide a base for its stock and extra value and leverage to existing stockholders. Just my two cents, from a very long-term Apple stockholder.
