suggestions for tech longs?? i'd try some of the really washed out software companies, like Retek, Agile, Verisign, Comverse, Rational, maybe even Siebel down here. i've always liked the analog IC guys too, like Maxim, Linear, Micrel, Pericom. these companies all have highly liquid balance sheets and strong competitive positions. i would note that with the exception of Retek (from much higher prices) and Comverse, i don't own any of these long yet.

to the rest of the thread -- please don't kill me for suggesting longs. this is in the context of a HEDGED portfolio, the other side of which should consist largely of short IBM <g>
