Elmer,

The most shocking thing regarding AMD's announcement was no inventory buildup. While Inventories remained essentially flat for the past couple of quarters, revenues decreased drastically.

If 8-10 weeks includes producing the wafer and the other various processes of etching, etc., in some ways the low inventory level implies to me that AMD knew revenues would be light at least two months in advance. Of course, this assumption is based upon yields that are "consistent" for AMD. Therefore, AMD's fab(s) were running no where near capacity.

Of course, the "other" scenario is that AMD's yields were much below AMD's "normal" yields.

I believe that it is the former and not the latter.

Additionally, it wouldn't surprise me if Intel showed an extremely large market share gain, either.
