I suggest Rafael Palai. He devotes a a chapter in his "The Arab Mind" to public and private attitudes and practices toward sex

That's Rafael Patai. Yes, it's curious, he describes a very uptight, Victorian attitude towards sex, but not towards sexual profanity, which is used freely when tempers flare, as they often do (the Arabs don't put as much stock in controlling one's anger as we do)
