Jeff: Without 911 accusations, most people
wouldn't have even heard of Tony.

Total crap, Elgindy's arrest was on CNN International worldwide before he was even arraigned. Suborning FBI agents draws attention.

You are either a classic propagandist or not very bright. I am inclined to believe the former.

Mary, most people who heard of Elgindy for the first time likely did so when he was arrested for financially related crimes. The terrorist innuendo came later, and only as part of stories, as far as I've seen, that were financial in nature. In other words, I don't recall any stories about him that appeared grouped with others about our "war on terror" that might have been seen solely in that context.

Your point about Elgindy's family and what is must be like to be in prison with terrorist related accusations is well taken. But, while extreme, these circumstances could easily have been avoided if Elgindy had stayed as squeaky clean as he had professed. For the life of me, given the vast resources available on the Internet, I can't figure out why Elgindy felt it necessary to involve the FBI at all. I think if there's any common ground to be reached here, it's that we can applaud the mission while still condemning the missionary.
