All:

Looks like CitiGroup could be a negative catalyst tomorrow - Drudge says NY Times is claiming CitiGroup help Enron hide their financial condition. Ouch. At least I don't own any substantial positions in financial stocks.

<I personally think the markets are reacting to the over-reaction of Congress, and Bush could end the downturn by vetoing this legislation.>

The left is using the corporate scandals to launch an attack on capitalism, which doesn't help the stocks. But the main reason for the recent tumble is that the stocks are anticipating a crash in consumer spending and a double-dip recession. Look at consumer debt stocks like MBNA and Capital One. The consumer (and corporate) debt loads are off the charts.

Well said. There are already laws on the books for corporate fraud. Why aren't they being enforced? I have lost much respect for GW and the way he has handled(or not handled) ENE and WCOM.
