The J2EE vs. .NET fight is simply the Unix vs. NT fight in newer fashion

Well, yes, but now Mr Softie has something to fight with. .NET is a big improvement over ASP pages. When you add in the enforced ubiquity of the platform in a couple of years, it will become the course of least resistance for many. I don't know if .NET can make inroads into the enterprise market, but the SQL Server/Sybase/Oracle experience has shown that Microsoft can certainly chew into a market from the smaller end. Do you know what percentage of BEA's business was NT based last year? Because that's a percentage that Microsoft intends to take back.
