If the stocks in the S&P 500 followed the way GAAP should really be followed vis-a-vie their earnings, or lack of, they would be 50% of what they currently indicate.
In other words, a compnay that shows $20 million in earnings would really have only $10 mil, and a company with a loss of $20 million would really have a $40 mil loss.
Now that will cause one to pucker-up.......
I don't think anyone can really get a grip of how nasty this stuff has become.
My wife is a CPA and has been shaking her head for years regarding public company accounting b/s.
