The UBS downgrade, coming at a time when there is NO NEW BASIS for changing earlier guidance from QCOM, is suspicious. It is sheer opinion, since if there were any basis for the opinion on data supplied by QCOM, the data would have been released to the public earlier.

Now, the real question is WHY does UBS issue this opinion now? I think the answer is that they see a market rebound and better than expected revenues or earnings for QCOM going forward. By issuing a negative opinion, they help weaken the share price and make it possible to get more shares for their accounts at bargain prices. In short, it appears to be a self-serving manipulation not unlike dozens of others we have seen over the years.
