Hi Dabum,

Last year my big successful strategy was to load up on tech when market indicators fell in line, and then hold for the intermediate term. It worked 3 times last year very nicely. This year that strategy has been a collosal flop. I continue to hold long positions in my IRAs waiting for that rally - hopefully it will come or I my need to look forward to my senior years as a greeter at Wal-Mart. I will tough it out with the VIX so high, but one cannot help but believe that the SOX will head lower ST.

My tech successes this year have been:

1) Shorting tech - was such a winner in June but seems dangerous now
2) Going long tech for short term (1-2 day) trades when market indicators (including my TRIN rules) give the ST signals

<<Warp, one of the things I've learned about TA is you must move fast if the price doesn't support the indicators. Pre-market showed the semi's were going to take a hit and I placed my sell orders in pre-market. Based on where I bought yesterday and where I sold today, I managed less than a 1% gain after sales commissions.>>

Excellent points! I had thought I was doing myself a favor by sleeping in the first hour of trading, but if you are playing the ST game then the first hour is very important.
