Petz,

I thought it would be worthwhile to do a careful examination of this question. You found TBred 2.0 GHz (estimated) beating NW 2.4/533/1066RDRAM on only 10 out of 27 benchmarks as a "rough guess."

It started out as a rough guess, and since I was getting too many close results, I did it in a spreadsheet. But I made a mistake in my calculations. I took the difference between 1.6 and 1.8 in scores, and reduced it by what I calculated to be Athlon's scaling, which was the wrong thing to do, since the difference between 1.6 and 1.8 in scores is already impacted by scaling. Scaling from 1.8 to 2.0 would be slightly reduced, but still in the same ballpark. So I agree with your results.

I also agree with your projection of % of apps won by NW vs. CH. The number of apps won would have been probably 100% or close to that, if CH had 512k L2 and dual channel memory, but we have to assume 256K and single channel DDR, and somewhat mixed results, still favoring Hammer. Hammer should still come on top with SpecInt, but because of the lack of 512K L2, I have hard time believing the rumored 1300 to 1400 score.
