why isn't PE a good gauge? Fred Hickey has done some good work on this. I can't find the most recent issue, which I recall has some P/S info. But last October's issue has some historical info on tech stocks. AMAT's PE in 1990 was 14.3 It was 13.8 in 95. And remember 1996 was when Greenie gave his irrational exuberance piece. BTW, INTC, which had unbelievably good growth prospects back then had a PE of 12/3 in 1990 and 13.9 in 1995.

I found Hickey's July issue. AMAT's historical P/S from 1989-1998 was 2.0
