Here's some insider information from an alleged AMD FAB30 employee: (my translation from the link above).....2400+ and 2600+ are being produced for two weeks now, should be available at the beginning of September.

Not likely. They won't know the speed until the final test step and that will be late August.

<font color=red>Court halts product shipments from Intel's Xircom unit
Semiconductor Business News
(07/26/02 11:16 a.m. EST)

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- 3Com Corp. today announced that a federal court has blocked Intel Corp.'s Xircom subsidiary from selling select local-area networking (LAN) and modem cards in the marketplace.

The preliminary injunction ordered by a federal court last week against Xircom is in full force, effectively immediately. As of the afternoon of July 25, when 3Com posted the required bond with the court, Xircom was fully prohibited from making, using, or selling some 26 products in the United States.

Andreas, Re: "2400+ and 2600+ are being produced for two weeks now, should be available at the beginning of September."

Hard to tell, since I have not translated the text myself, but it sounds like they are saying a new stepping started production (taped out) two weeks ago, which means they are only projecting speeds of up to 2.06GHz. Otherwise, if they were talking about chips coming off the assembly line, they would launch a lot sooner than September.

Re: "Hammer core is expected to be twice as big as Thorougbred (???)"

They must mean Sledgehammer. I actually expected it to be about 160mm^2.

3. 2400+ and 2600+ are being produced for two weeks now... 0.13 is expected to scale up to 3200+.

If this is true, things will be looking up for the 1st half of 03. Hammer for the high end, with the low-end Athlon/Bartons competing very well against 3.2 P4's.
