Here's some insider information from an alleged AMD FAB30 employee: (my translation from the link above).....2400+ and 2600+ are being produced for two weeks now, should be available at the beginning of September. Not likely. They won't know the speed until the final test step and that will be late August. EP

Hard to tell, since I have not translated the text myself, but it sounds like they are saying a new stepping started production (taped out) two weeks ago, which means they are only projecting speeds of up to 2.06GHz. Otherwise, if they were talking about chips coming off the assembly line, they would launch a lot sooner than September. Re: "Hammer core is expected to be twice as big as Thorougbred (???)" They must mean Sledgehammer. I actually expected it to be about 160mm^2. wbmw
