I was wandering around near the 49th parallel and I swear I could not have been more than 100 feet off its location as I lined up on a couple of landmarks, but try as I might I could not see the line anywhere. I was plainly marked on the map as a red line, but you could not find it on the ground anywhere. What happened? Did they erase it just to catch smugglers? Or does it sink into the dirt after a while?
