I don't know why you can't access that file. Do you run antivirus software?

Even if the file was read-only, you should still be able to read it.

I don't like the paperclip guy either, but haven't learned how to eliminate him yet. The hesitation + wink on exit are particularly annoying.

How about downloading it as a self-extracting file:

I don't presume the spreadsheet to 'prove' anything, it's just a convenient way to consolidate and store information, and facilitates finding relationships, nuances and trends I would probably not otherwise see.
